The one bottom we did pattern tile seemed to hold surface water worse this year than last-----ponded a lot longer.

That field did not get cover crops last fall............and I think packed more when the extreme dust suddenly got water----------and that field was replanted to beans due to foxtail, and therefore did not get the slotting that the other fields did due to the lateness, and we having to stay with other matters at that time.

However---------I agree with your point about tiling--------I hate to think of what that field would have looked like without the tiling-------probably like it had for the prior 25 years (literally)---------a swimming pool with a mud bottom when it rained, and when it was dry, it could have passed for I80.
