Eddie,
This year is FAR from normal for this area over the long run. Even if we did return to the weather of the 60's, 70's, and 80's, with the exception of '76 corn was grown here........just not on the scale it is now. We average 21-25" of rain per year over the long run. It's not a lot, but our heavier ground holds water well and with improved cropping practices and lower land prices we are competitive. I don't know where you are from, but this year is NOT typical to our environment. 30 miles west of here...not to this extreme, but maybe.
