| Eddie, I kinda look at it the way you do. I believe that the fundamental changes in the next few years will be driven by high input costs, especially the petroleum inputs. If you look at everything from the adaptation of tractors, to shelling and drying corn, to hauling direct to terminals, to farming land 40-50 miles away, all of these were brought on by cheap, or at least affordable, energy. I'm not suggesting we go back to horses and steam engines, but I think the fundamental changes that will determine success or failure in the near future will be related to using less petroleum. Maybe I'm nuts, but that's the way I see it. | |
