but moisture is 3 inches down--------say, for corn----------so that the first rain could cake things pretty good............... how many then use row cleaners to remove, say, an inch or two of "dust", and wide enough for the press wheels to work right.......... Appears that would result in the best of two worlds........getting to moisture, but removing the emergence problem. One might have to come back with a row cultivator in order to "fill" the groove later, so ponding would not be a continuing problem..........I would think that the first rain would probably soak in if it were that dry at planting and the "ponding" would not be an immediate problem for the short plant...............but...........what say you?
