Subject: RE: Planting deeper - row cleaners & consistent depth

I have no row cleaners at all on my drill, it uses early riser units and I plant the beans pretty deep..around 2.5" in the clean dirt. I have done this in many variable conditions, all notill, and I get a consistent good stand including where the beans are planted deepest. This does not seem to me to be the durnation of a good stand of beans like I used to think. This year was one of the toughest, I had about two hundred acres planted just ahead of a very hard cold rain, and these beans took an extra week to come up, but they now look like the best beans I have. Go figure. just my experience.
