Idk if would work in your area but works great here. Plant triticale or rye. Chop it in spring then plant short season corn or beans behind it. So cheap feed upfront plus another crop for grain. Or graze off rye or wheat in spring then again plant another crop behind it.
Too many guys don't realize how much cattle work extremely well with row crops. Makes things more profitable, lower cog etc
