I can’t be the only idiot buying crp and taking it out to graze. I know a few here that did the same.
Crp is death to rural America.
Good for you! Last crp contact I had, I bought my way out of—-life getting shorter, that place I wanted to do what I wanted to do—-superb grass.
Then again——latest crp deal, I bid into grasslands crp. Plum cheap. 45 days to a paddock. But—-they’ll cost share fencing, that’ll give me 180 days and it’s ’get outa there by labor day’ country.
And it’ll enhance management, grass, riparian, habitat——and pay a large portion of my property taxes
Probably be able to rest at least one field a yr, had range guy tell me 2 yrs on this stuff really shows results—-sometimes.
About 12” precip area, with effective precip on some of 6”. Lowland saline, sodic soils.
Different from some guys who talk ‘cows per acre’ and
‘Ya, that fence is expensive but go ahead’
