Matt, I may have been typing faster than I was thinking- I do the same thing talking, also! My only point to anything here is that I believe that long term no-till is a different animal as far as fertility testing or theory vs "conventional" tillage. I also think that soil bioligy is entering into producers discussions way more than it used to. Trouble is the new terms are hard for me to pronounce and almost impossible to spell. The nutrient cycling or whatever term is fashionable now is the real deal as far as i'm concerned. But all the local data I've seen was completed almost 10 years ago, did over a 6 year period. I wish that the plots had continued on.

Long story short, I don't like the thought of all my fert going on broadcast, but I may like the thought of deep banding it less.
