Subject: RE: Reduced Rates of Fertilizer -- Mark, Pat

Mark,

No worries at all.  We all have glitches in our on-board 'hard drive' sometimes!  I felt a bit guilty myself for questioning you so hard on the results -- but I've just had too many instances where the producer claimed X increase in soil OM, and then when you start examining the details, you find the evidence is quite weak (too few soil cores or fields tested, different people took the samples, different depths of cores, different labs used, etc).

Your results of an increase of ~ 1.0% or more in 9 yrs is still quite impressive.  And is probably related to your move toward higher residue crops on those fields, as well as NT.
