I haven't read everything, but I think you are describing over 1/2 the neighbors around me....

The difficulty is where people are at. Grandpa is done, but still king of the castle. He knows he's not got forever left, and wants to still matter by being able to do something....

Dad is looking to get something back from his decades of work & 'listening to dad all the time'. No reason to do things different, this always worked and would rather build for retirement than put more money into the farm.

You are looking to grow & expand and make your mark on the world. Try new things and see if it improves things.

All those different goals under one umbrella is very difficult.

Seems until about 25 or so a person is ok with learning.

25 to 35 is the tough years. A real struggle, as you are finding. Saw that myself, see that in others around me.

It does get better.
