Plant wider varieties of maturities.

If you want 1,000 acres of beans all cut at 13% moisture, better get two combines.

We start at 13.5-14%. This year all irrigated were cut at 12.5%+.

Dryland beans were all insurance claims. So by the time we cared to cut them they were 8-9%.

Mother Nature trumps all. No matter how you plan.

If you want to harvest 12%+ on all soybeans with one combine, plant less soybeans.

Will add: beans all go to town. Planted 3.2 and 3.5 under two pivots. They were ready about 4 days apart? Finished 3.2 at 12.5% moisture and first load from 3.5 was like 13.5. Did leave some butter beans, but yield was very good getting them when they should be cut. Very slow cutting. Plug head once in a while. 3.0-3.5 Mat on dryland. We do not grow 1,000 of soybeans.
