Northern Indiana | Big plus on the 2 combines. If help is an issue find an older retired farmer in the area, put him in a nice clean combine, doesn’t need to be new but make it something that’s nice. We’ve found that the guys who always farmed with older equipment are very happy getting the chance to run a 70 series Deere if it’s clean and in nice shape. That should go for any color, but that vintage has been good to us as a second for soybeans. Pretty low stress job, not running 15 hour days like it’s corn. We normally have our current guy start about 30 minutes after the main machine, he always runs field passes and let the other machine do the opening of the field. | |
