Southern Missouri | For just a few bucks an acre desication sure helps with this issue , with a little practice it helps a lot , would be my guess that we’re out there with the drone a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the evening when it’s usually nice and calm here that time of day and can spray what we can combine in a couple days of time later on when they are ready , we’re probably spraying them somewhere around 16 to 23 percent moisture but you have to look at maturity , not moisture, and not hit them to quick , it’s an easier guess when the combine needs to be in the field , look at the moisture reading out of the combine grain tank and go , been standard practice for us for probably 5 years now , not a big deal really, and if we try just taking the combine to field without desication when the grain tank reading is 13.5 , we have butter beans that never make it to the grain bin , again that may be worse in the south .
Just to add , did I mention I hate combining 8 or 9 percent beans ?
