First of all, focus on what your doing on your own farm, if your profitable and making money it doesn’t matter what the neighbors are doing. Don’t think you have to compete with the big boys to be successful, everybody has a different starting point in their farming operation. Next take a look at the situation from a different point of view,is the guy who farms 700 acres or the one who farms 7000 the most successful I seen both ends of the spectrum, granted the one that farms more will have newer and shiny equipment, but is also covering more ground. Some of the most successful farmers and content farmers I know have farmed 500 to 1000 acres most of it owned and paid for and seem to live a lifestyle they’re happy with.
