Sioux County, NWIA | Your report, along with my experience with our Prius in snow, makes me wary of using these “high tech” cars in adverse traction conditions. Our Prius has the opposite problem, it refuses to spin the wheels whatsoever in snow, which makes it nearly helpless. There is no way to switch off the traction control on our model, and the reason for that is to prevent damage to the electric side of the propulsion system from overspeed due to extreme rapid acceleration.
