After years of this subject, I still haven't changed my mind. When I refer to "you" below, I"m referring to a seed dealer.

I'll say neither of your examples interests me.

I would rather see price per seed (or per thousand) and then you ship it in whatever size vessel you prefer. I want them in bulk however. I don't like hearing that "this lot is 2800/# & this lot is 2600/# & this lot is 3100/#....but they're all $25/bag (50#).

I'll tell you that I have XXXX acres of beans. We plant 165,000 seeds/a. You need to sell me XXXX times 165,000 times $/seed. When April gets here you won't need to tell me that "lot ABC came in bigger (=fewer seeds/lb) than expected & you're now short of beans". No, I'll pay for so many (count) beans & you deliver that many.

It'll work just like planning seed corn purchases. Some say it's impossible-some say it's very hard to do-some are doing it already.
