SodbusterIII - 3/10/2024 23:00 If it's whataboutism maybe the ending of the oil pct and the, tax credit for marginal production wells, along with the depletion allowance tax credit should be looked at. OBTW with or without tax credits solar and wind are both cheaper the coal or natural gas and coal but just like big oil at the start of ethanol the existing electric producers are fighting to keep everybody else out of the distribution system. So let's get a mandated use system in for renewable energy and it's all good.

You're the one that started in with the "whataboutism" by bringing up ethanol.

The studies that show wind and solar being cheaper than coal or natural gas are BS.    They do not account for all of the costs of wind and solar.  Specifically, there isn't a single one of those studies that includes the cost of building backup generation for 100% of the wind/solar generation capacity.   Those backup generators are not free to build or operate.

Yeah, you don't have to have the backup generation, if you don't want to have power available 24/7, maybe you'd like to volunteer to have your electric shut off at night when the wind isn't blowing.

Wind and solar has been subsidized for 40+ years, its time for the baby to stand up and walk on its own.    Especially if those in the know such as your self, think that they are already at a cost advantage (news flash, they're not).
